YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY:
The Engineer I is an entry-level engineering professional who supports the design, development, documentation, and continuous improvement of modular power solutions. Working under the guidance of an Engineering Team Lead, Manager, or senior engineer, this role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Project Management to deliver safe, reliable, manufacturable, and customer-focused solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

ENGINEERING AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

• Support the design and development of modular power systems, assemblies, and related components.

• Prepare and update engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment submittals, and technical documentation under supervision.

• Support electrical system design activities, including power distribution, lighting, auxiliary systems, single-line diagrams, short-circuit analysis, and overcurrent protective device coordination.

• Participate in design reviews and help confirm alignment with customer requirements, project specifications, engineering standards, and applicable codes.

• Assist with engineering change orders, design updates, standard work, and document-control activities.

• Coordinate electrical design requirements with structural, mechanical, controls, architectural, and manufacturing stakeholders.

MANUFACTURING AND OPERATIONS SUPPORT

• Partner with Manufacturing and Quality to resolve technical questions during fabrication, assembly, testing, and product release.

• Support production-readiness reviews and help identify design changes that improve safety, quality, manufacturability, productivity, and cost.

• Assist with drawing interpretation, design conflicts, interferences, errors, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.

• Conduct supervised field or shop-floor observations to verify existing conditions, capture information, and support design updates.

• Apply a continuous-improvement mindset to product standards, processes, and engineering deliverables.

PROJECT AND CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION

• Participate in project and team meetings; communicate status, risks, decisions, and technical needs clearly.

• Work with Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and senior engineers to support schedule, budget, quality, and customer commitments.

• Assist with field observations, design interpretations, technical issue resolution, and commissioning support under appropriate supervision.

• Build productive working relationships with internal partners, customers, vendors, and external design professionals.

WHAT YOU BRING TO MPS:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.

• An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

• Internship, co-op, manufacturing, construction, or engineering project experience is preferred.

• Foundational knowledge of engineering principles and an interest in modular manufacturing and mission-critical power infrastructure.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL;

• Ability to learn engineering analysis tools for load flow, short circuits, overcurrent coordination, and arc-flash mitigation, such as SKM or ETAP.

• Ability to learn and use CAD/BIM, Microsoft Office, illuminance, and related engineering or product-lifecycle tools.

• Foundational understanding of applicable electrical codes, industry standards, and energy-efficiency requirements, with the ability to build proficiency.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments under direction, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing project and production priorities.

• Sound problem-solving, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

• Self-motivation, accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

TRAVEL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Up to 10% travel, excluding routine local field or facility visits.

• Work is performed in office, manufacturing, and project-site environments with varying noise, lighting, temperature, and activity levels.

• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, typing, and computer use; occasional bending, carrying, pushing, and lifting up to 40 pounds.

• Appropriate personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety requirements may be required in manufacturing or field environments.
